Some of you seem to be fans of Google. I can understand that. I was/am too... Up to a point.
However, Google has been showing signs that they wish to simply dominate everything in the software industry. They have produced, or bought, 50+ applications. Some small, some very large. Many of them have little to do with search engines.
You may think "So what? What is the problem with that? I like Google. They are the good guys! Not like that evil company, Microsoft. Google always smiles and gives things out for free. Microsoft always seemed like "The Imperial March" music was playing in the background whenever they dominated a software niche."
That may be so. Google has a prettier face and a nicer disposition. However, that doesn't change the fact that they are performing the same land-grab behavior that Microsoft exhibited a decade ago. Squashing smaller software companies.
I am not excusing Microsoft. I don't trust them very much. But at least they have calmed down their land-grabbing and settled into the areas they have taken.
Google is just starting to warm up.
I would guess their next big project will be an office-like suite of apps.
