But if you increase the FOV to 100, which is pretty standard for 16:10 widescreen (I think 108 is the standard for 16:9 displays) it all fits in the display perfectly, and you have a wider viewing angle.
Unreal engine games, such as Bioshock, usually don't take too much effort to make it fit right. Some UE2 games had the widescreen resolutions and the FOV settings right in the menu. In UE1 games the FOV setting could be changed in user.ini, or in the console with the fov command. Apparently neither of those methods work in Bioshock.
