At the beginning I was siding with Epic. SK kept saying "working" engine. Which is a subjective term.
I think the arguments that they spent more time on Gears than they did on helping their licensees is gonna be a sore spot though. It's understandable...when you're getting something ready for a show, you polish the outside, not retune the innards. So they were probably putting a lot of gears specific bandaids on it.
Then when they said that the PS3 version is late as well, I was almost completely in the SK camp.
But then they released the bomb. They said the contract should be desolved and that they don't owe Epic any money..>BUT< they want to keep the engine and have it become "THEIRs". (or at least the copy they have they get to pretend they wrote.)
They even called it the SK engine. (losers.)
That was going way to far. If they wanted to be released from their contract and STOP using the engine, that would be fine. Heck, I'd even throw in some monetary damages, (based on how well Gears did and how well Too Human 'might' have done if Epic helped.) However, trying to steal the engine in broad daylight is a little too brazen for me.
