Bungie deploys 2.44GB Destiny 1.0.3 patch today

Today's Destiny patch includes the new Iron Banner 2.0 content, as well as some additional Bounty slots. The patch, however, is... kinda big.

Bungie is bringing an extra dose of challenge to Destiny with today's 1.0.3 patch. The game's newest patch adds the previously-mentioned Iron Banner 2.0 content, offering a new challenge for raiding teams. It's a big one, though, coming in at a whopping 2.44GB, a size that Bungie is already issuing somewhat of an apology over.

The Iron Banner 2.0 will see at least one Level 20 character lead a party into battle in anticipation of Lord Saladin's return. Individuals that see the whole raid through to the very end will be eligible for exclusive rewards. Likewise, players within three levels of each other can compete for greater spoils.

Some of the patch's other additions include an increased number of Bounty slots (from five to ten), new team chat features, a polished HUD, and a slew of fixes to the game's various areas. The full list of patch notes can be found on Bungie's website.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?

The way the article is written really doesn't make sense in the context of the game...

"The Iron Banner 2.0 will see at least one Level 20 character lead a party into battle in anticipation of Lord Saladin's return. "

Iron Banner 2.0 will only allow someone to lead a party if they are level 20 or higher

"Individuals that see the whole raid through to the very end will be eligible for exclusive rewards."

      It is not a raid.

also Saladin was a late medieval Islamist ruler and is unlikely to have played Destiny, let alone return

I'm sure there has been more than one Saladin ever. I mean, the name has salad in it. People love salad.

This patch might be too late to save this game to many better games coming out and WOW being out I've been done with destiny. I'll patch it check out the UI but it's stuff done way to later.

Looks like a lot of good changes and additions. Also the next couple patches sound pretty substantial.

Yeah. I was on the hate train for this game after playing the beta but watching live streams of the finished product changed my mind. I'm having a fucking blast with it, way more than expected. Yes the story is terrible, but the universe is very well crafted and interesting. I'm having a lot of fun just doing the daily stuff. Hoping to get in on another normal raid this week too.

      I'm still playing actively .

Have a group of friends who has loved Destiny since launch.

We have VOG normal down to about a 80 -90 min clear from zone in to zone out and are working on hard mode .

That said we are all taking a break for Unity / Inquisition / LBP3 / Far Cry 4 other than to log in once a week to raid until Dec 9th. I anticipate the expansion will bring back more people than some think. $20 or not, idiots pay for it. And a ton of people got the edition that came with the DLC at launch.
