Watch a graphical comparison of the Destiny beta

Shacknews compares the Destiny beta's graphics between PS4, PS3, Xbox One, and Xbox 360.

The Destiny beta is set to conclude at the end of today. So with that in mind, Shacknews would like to offer up a graphical comparison across all versions of Bungie's latest adventure. Watch the video below to get a good look at Destiny, as seen on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360. Take a look and judge for yourself which version looks the best or whether the current-gen versions stand up to their next-gen counterparts.

The final version of Destiny arrives on all of these platforms on September 9.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?

Looks horrendously bad on previous gen consoles.

Every new generation makes the last look out of focus and the shadows look strange. If it wasn't that way we wouldn't buy the next gen console.

The ps4 has more detail, but of course that's coming to xb1 at launch. I'm very impressed how good the last-gen consoles look.

Yeah, I played it on the PS4 and then the 360 later just for the heck of it. Just the fact that they got it up and running and looking fairly close to the PS4 is pretty amazing. It looks a hell of a lot more blurry and some areas look washed out and low rez... but it looks a lot better than I was expecting.

But, on the other hand... the PS4 version is one of the prettiest games I've seen running. Even compared to my PC. It just looks gorgeous and smooth... there isn't a pixel in site. Great lighting effects as well. Just an all around good looking game. I love to see Bungie with the gloves off. They are kicking ass on Destiny.

I'm not sure. Killzone looks much better (to me), ps4 Destiny seems like a last-gen game at higher res and with nicer textures.

KZ has proper ambient lighting, two-bounce reflections, soft shadows, a much more detailed environment, true motion blur, many light sources (Destiny just seems to have s single source, though it's done well), probably some other buzz words I've forgotten. The day/night cycle in Destiny is very nice.

(though kz is very boring, I'm not trying to defend the game)

I think half the reason it looks so good is the art design. Bungie just has amazingly talented artists. But you are right, from a purely technical standpoint games like Infamous have more going on.

At around 1:00 to 1:05 it is jaggies deluxe on PS4.

Could be a glitch in the engine and it could be the same for Xbox One.

      This is hard to watch.

I can't really even compare them because it's so weird.

Mostly the PS4 section is just clouds the whole time

One would think the Xbox one should have an advantage there after hyping cloud computing so hard.

It would have been easier if it were 4 columns, since the y axis varies more than the x

Looks like the PS4 might be set to the wrong RGB range in the capture setup? On the screens where it should be black like 1:41 it is coming out grey. Looks like a HDMI limited range output going into full range capture. Same thing when it should be super bright at 0:21

I've noticed my ps4 renders this way. Slightly washed out colors and gray tones. I don't know what the deal is

The PS3 version is looking pretty sad, but it's still impressive how well it seems to work on that old hardware.

      Sidejack

Watched some Destiny videos today and boy is the gameplay ho-hum city. I saw a dude fight a level 7 creature, and aside from jumping out of the way and hiding, it stayed in one place. I like the idea of an MMOFPS but even the story seems hilariously shitty.
