Command & Conquer to eventually include new fictional setting
by John Keefer, Feb 25, 2013 2:51pm PSTThe upcoming free-to-play Command & Conquer will be set the Generals universe, with the GLA, China and the United States as adversaries. The Red Alert and Tiberium universes will be added, but developer Victory Games also envisions including a new fiction for the franchise.
"We like to say that 2013 is…the beginning of the next 10 years of Command & Conquer games, and we've been building this platform and this first game to start that process," Victory's General Manager Jon Van Caneghem told PC Gamer. "As we mentioned, our first outing is going to be in the Generals universe ... but over time, we want to add the Tiberium universe and the Red Alert universe, even a new fiction we've been working on."
Caneghem also mentioned that a single-player campaign would be a possibility for the RTS as part of weekly or monthly updates. An extended beta is supposed to come sometime this year for the game, which will be running on the Frostbite 2 engine.
