The Walking Dead retail for Xbox 360 plagued with bugs

Forum users are complaining that the retail version of Telltale's "The Walking Dead" is experiencing bugs on the Xbox 360.

The recent retail release of The Walking Dead provides another way of experiencing Telltale's episodic adventure game. However, it appears that the Xbox 360 version may be worse than its download counterpart.

Posts on the Telltale forums (via Joystiq) have claimed stuttering, button prompts appearing too late to input for events, and an inability to start playing Episode 2. The latter issue has persisted for some users despite a title update intended to fix it. Telltale has also informed users that it's aware of the freezing issue, claiming it's a problem of the 4GB Xbox 360 Slim. Some users with other models claim they've experienced it as well, however.

Instead of getting the game on Xbox retail disc, perhaps you'll want to consider getting it for free on other platforms?

Define "PC users". I've had no issues whatsoever and just finished Episode 5.

Maybe a little bit of drama..

It's pretty silly to say you can get the game for free on other platforms when what you really mean is get Episode 1 for free.

Especially when one of the platforms is technically the same as the one the article is about... Xbox 360 (arcade or otherwise, it's the same platform)

Nothing new... While I loved this game for and thank them for making this game, they have some of the worst coders on their team. I've seen so many bugs with the PC version (360/ps3 was just as bad) with save and in game glitches that I hope their next game will be a redo of the entire engine. For such a simple game they could of made it in Unity or Flash.

Will never buy another Telltale game again after all the BS with the game-saves on the PC version. Don't know how they continue to ignore that by not providing a fix. Whats even worse are the people giving this game great reviews despite the bugs.

I did. When I started episode 2 it acted like I saved a person I didn't save. I had to copy my save from my docs folder into my steam folder, I believe, or maybe vice versa. Later, when I reinstalled Windows, the save it downloaded from 'the cloud' wouldn't load, at all, period. I tried rewinding, I tried starting the game all the way back on episode 1, everything was gone.

So I had to start over completely. Which has kind of sucked.

me neither. the closest thing to a problem with the experience was it launched in the bizarre resolution of 1024x768 on my modern monitor. changed the res. problem solved! awesome game.

Lost all my progress after the second episode. Haven't had the patience to go back and start over despite enjoying it so much.

Bugs are annoying, but thats a particularly egregious one.

That doesn't mean they don't exist. Plenty of users have encountered the save game bug, which is a huge issue to just continue to go ignored. I can't believe they haven't come out with a fix yet. It's fucking mind-blowing.

No, but it explains why people give the game good reviews...

It is extremely frustrating though because they still haven't fixed a lot of the bullshit. I had a handful of issues on the 360 that made it very frustrating at time. On top of just general poor performance.

Why wouldn't this be a straight port from the XBLA version? I played PC myself, but hadn't heard any complaints until now.

Point. Guess I've been spoiled by installing my games to HDD and purchasing through XBLA. When our 4GB slim came preloaded with some demos, I saw that we were going to outgrow that pretty quick and snagged a 320 HDD on sale.

I meant this more as a heads up for people who haven't made the mistake of buying the retail disc yet :)

the game really deserves to be played, and $10 is a bargain
