Beneath a Steel Sky 2 coming despite missing Kickstarter goal
by Alice O'Connor, Sep 25, 2012 12:30pm PDTRevolution Software's Kickstarter campaign to crowd-fund Broken Sword: The Serpent's Curse was a huge success, doubling its initial goal of $400,000. While it smashed through several stretch goals, it fell short of the big, exciting target for $1,000,000--a sequel to dystopian adventure game Beneath a Steel Sky. Happily, Revolution now says that it'll go ahead and make that anyway.
"We're delighted by the recent level of interest in a sequel to Beneath a Steel Sky and are currently discussing design ideas for this project which we plan to go into development following the release of Broken Sword - The Serpent's Curse," co-founder Tony Warriner told Develop.
He added, "We're deeply touched that our Steel Sky fans are as enthusiastic today as they were when the original game released in 1994."
The original Beneath a Steel Sky is free on GOG, or $3 for iThings.
Broken Sword: The Serpent's Curse ended up with over $800,000, including payments through Paypal. Revolution will make it for PC, Mac, Linux, iOS, Android, and possibly consoles too.
