Weekend PC digital deals: Christmas sales bonanza

By Alice O'Connor, Dec 23, 2011 2:00pm PST

Whatever you're celebrating over the next week or so--be it Christmas, Festivus, or New Year--digital distributors are lining up to take away what what little money remains after you've stocked up on the gin you need to survive with the faintest glimmer of hope left in your tired heart.

It's a time of incessant rotating daily deals, so you'll need to be quick if you want to snap up Deus Ex: Human Revolution for $10, Rage for $15, Renegade Ops for $3, and many of the other wonderful bargains. Hey, you could buy video games for others as last-minute gifts!

Here's our selection of this weekend's PC deals:

Amazon

Liable to disappear whenever Amazon feels like it:

Direct2Drive

Friday:

GamersGate

GamersGate boasts that it has over 800 games on sale at the moment. Copy that list here? Bugger that for a game of soldiers. Here are a few of the deals as a taster:

Get Games

Good Old Games

Almost every game at GOG is on sale right now. The full list is this-a-way, but here are a few highlights:

Humble Indie Bundle

Pay what you want for a bundle with Jamestown: Legend of the Lost Colony, BIT.TRIP RUNNER, Super Meat Boy, Shank, and NightSky, and their soundtracks. Pay more than the average to get Gratuitous Space Battles and Cave Story+ too, plus the Humble Indie Bundle 3 games: Crayon Physics Deluxe, Cogs, VVVVVV, And Yet It Moves, and Hammerfight.

IndieGala

Pay what you want for a bundle with Hacker Evolution: Duality, inMomentum, Saira, Your Doodles Are Bugged! and Zombie Shooter 2. Pay more than the average price to receive Hacker Evolution: Untold and Zombie Shooter too. All games are redeemable on Steam.

Impulse

Impulse has 210 games on sale, so here are a few of them:

Little Big Bunch

Pay what you want for a bundle with Explodemon, Frozen Synapse, New Star Soccer 5, Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee, Serious Sam: Double D.

Matrix Games

Specialist strategy publisher Matrix is offering around a third off most of its games. I would select a few highlights if I had the slightest clue about hardcore, esoteric strategy titles.

Origin

PopCap Games

PopCap is offering 50% off all its PC and Mac games.

Steam

Steam's holiday sale is big. Really big. Huge. Colossal. There are discounts on publisher catalogues, bundles, and heaps of individual games. Think of a game, then go check and you'll probably find it on sale.

The real treat, however, is the daily sales. Every day, a dozen or so games receive mega-discounts, so you might want to avoid buying games not in daily sales for now in case they crop up a lot cheaper later. And, of course, there's a chance to win every game on Steam.

Until Saturday, 2pm Pacific:
