Dota 2 trailer emerges from Gamescom

But what if you can't make it to Germany to partake in the festivities? You can, at the very least, watch this debut CG trailer.
Dota 2 will be available for the PC and Mac "later this year," according to the latest press release.

If Valve does the "evolving" similar to what they did with TF2, then it will just continue to get better and better.
But you are right about it trying to get critical mass. I don't think they are trying to necessarily pull players from LoL or HoN. Hell, until about 6 months ago I didn't even know they existed. I think they're trying to pull in people who would have never thought to play a game like this.
