Batman: Arkham City to have downloadable 'episodes'
by Steve Watts, Jul 21, 2011 1:30pm PDTBatman: Arkham Asylum had some downloadable content in the form of challenge maps, but its sequel Arkham City is apparently taking the next step with story episodes. A ComicBooked interview (via CVG) brings word from none other than the voice of Batman himself, Kevin Conroy, at this year's San Diego Comic Con.
Asked about his plans for the future of Batman, Conroy replied: "The gaming now is a big, new thing. The thing about Arkham City is that it's going to be an ongoing game. You're going to be able to download future episodes of it, so it's going to be going on for quite a while. I've been recording it for a while. So that will continue."
By calling it "the gaming," Batman now sounds like my grandfather. At any rate, whatever these episodes are, they apparently require new recording sessions for Conroy. That's a promising sign that the episodes will have plots of their own -- either continuing the story of Arkham City, or telling other stories in that world.
Rocksteady and publisher Warner Bros recently revealed the rather nifty-looking Collector's Edition of the game to retail for $99.99. It will come out on October 18 alongside the standard retail package.
