Rumored Mortal Kombat roster and DLC characters appear
by Steve Watts, Mar 29, 2011 8:00am PDTWe may have a clearer idea of the full roster in Mortal Kombat, thanks to a leaked snapshot. A forum post on Mortal Kombat United shows off 26 characters with two empty slots. Most are recognizable faces from Mortal Kombat lore, but the image includes a few surprises, including a large look at a Cyborg version of Sub-Zero. It's unclear exactly where the Cyborg Sub-Zero would be selected, since he doesn't appear to have his own slot on the select screen. The full roster includes:
- Scorpion, Liu Kang, Kung Lao, Sub-Zero
Sindel, Ermac, Reptile, Kitana
Johnny Cage, Jade, Mileena, Nightwolf
Cyrax, Noob Saibot, Smoke, Sektor
Sonya, Jax, Kano, Stryker
Shang Tsung, Baraka, Kabal, Raiden
Sheeva, Quan Chi
The two empty spots may be filled with downloadable content. Joystiq reports that Netherrealm's Hans Lo revealed two characters slated for the first bit of DLC: Kenshi, and Scarlet. Oddly, the original report came from CVG, but has apparently been pulled.
Kenshi is a fan favorite, pitched as a possibility when creator Ed Boon tweeted an informal poll asking which characters to include as DLC. Scarlet, meanwhile, is an homage to a glitch in old arcade machines that would turn the female ninja characters' costumes red. This time she'll be a full character, complete with her own story.
File these both under 'rumor' for now, until we hear official word from Netherrealm or WB Games.
