On the street where I live, there is a fire hydrant. The curbs around it aren't painted and there is no sign saying not to park within 15 ft of said hydrant. Sometimes it is even hiding behind a trashcan. Anyway! I knew not to park in FRONT of the hydrant, but parked on a curb up ahead of it (about two cars distance away). Parking is limited on this road and there are always cars parked everywhere but directly blocking the hydrant so I was surprised to receive a whopping $42 parking ticket! I realize I am wrong because it was probably 15 ft from the hydrant, but at the same time I am poor and very upset about these 42 dollars.
Do I pay it and move on with my life, or do I have a chance at contesting/mitigating? Are there court fees involved? Help!
