So, finally got in some BC2 time yesterday.
Very much fun, but what the hell is up with the amount of snipers? During the 3-4 hours I played more than half the games practically consisted of something like 50-70% snipers. Is this normal in BF games, does it get better with time? I haven't played any of them for more than a few moments since 1942 but I don't remember it being quite like this.
Other than dying all the time from a single shot, very much fun. Might actually be the first online FPS I end up playing for more than a few hours since TF2.-

I play Recon a lot but I'm good at it, put red dot on my rifle for close range combat, C4 the shit out of enemy armor and spot the shit out of enemy soldiers.
(I also blow up JonathanParkerBedrava 's helicopter and snipe him out of the air)
Spotting is one of, if not the most, important team-support mechanism.-

I think hardcore makes recon/snipers even deadlier. frankly, most people play recon as a pure sniper and dont use the full potential of the class. my experience with HC has been a higher percentage of snipers over normal mode, and they can all kill you in one shot. I dont think that rush and conquest are suited well for hardcore, squad TDM seems to be the only mode that you could play HC and actually have fun.

Oh see, I've actually been pretty impressed with the 360 crowd so far. The first night none of them seemed to know what was going on and our Shack squads were always the top squad and we always crushed the other team, but last night we played a few teams that were very organized and we had a lot of trouble getting past their defenses.
And of course it helps a lot if you are in a party/squad with Shackers or people you know.

Once again if you are going to play Assault: Pay attention to those little ammo icons around the battlefield people are asking for for ammo. Know that if you see a guy with a rocket launcher on has back (engineer) hes going to need ammo he can only hold 3+rockets (or more with perk) so many times i run out of rockets and have to scour for ammo packs.
Same with medic: toss out medkits.
-
Yeah people seem to forget when playing assault that they can toss ammo. Very very helpful to have someone as assault in your squad though, I find I need ammo the most when I'm engineer and recon (for sensor balls and rockets), and it's really really important to be able to keep using both of those items.

When i see a team with a ton of snipers, i know 95% of them have to be horrible. So i'll go recon myself for a couple rounds, mortar, headshot, and terrorize them until i see numbers drop. Orrrrrr....just collect dogtags on them for a bit. I'm giving myself quite a bit of credit, i played recon quite a bit in the beta, pretty damn good at long range.

what does Killcam do to prevent sniping? absolutely nothing. the majority of people you snipe aren't even going to be telling other people where you are. regardless, in the worst case scenario that you have some amazing sniper spot that no one ever checks, if you get spotted on the killcam then you have to move or maybe (horror of horrors) die once and lose a little K:D ratio.

look, this was PREDICTABLE. huge maps, mortar ability, and the ability to actually camp out and snipe.
since recon can do everything and there's no need for any other class, that's a design flaw. between C4 and mortaring, you throw on the extra ammo perk and you can snipe for a REALLY long time.
I'll be playing MW2 in a duet with BC2 , I like both playstyles and they are very different. plus I gotta drive some mother fucking tanks ya know bro. -
Can someone invite me to the Shack BC2 steam group?

As much as I hate snipers, they seem fairly easy to avoid. Despite the fact that you can blow up just about anything, there seems to be a lot more cover than previous Battlefield games. It's not too hard to work your way from cover to cover and either get out of their line of sight or just go around them and get them from behind.

Honestly, being team oriented isn't a game mechanic, it's something you do or you don't. It is however something certain games will benefit from, like this one or say CS or TF2 etc etc. But like all those games I rarely find team work existent on pubs.
As far as playing our own games, of course we do. Probably more so than people realize.-
I don't agree. Valve has proved that you can at least funnel people towards playing as a team through game design. In L4D, you aren't going to survive very long at all if you run off by yourself and you aren't going to live long enough to have much fun doing this either. In Battlefield games, many people (including myself from time to time) will just go solo and do our own thing for the entire match. It's possible to go a full 20 minutes without doing anything to assist the team and still have fun and suffer no punishment. There is enough gratification to be had through simply getting kills, not being killed, and leveling up, that ensuring that your team wins is only one of the myriad things to do and unless the rest of your team participates it's hard to motivate yourself to contribute as well.
I would like them to design their games in such a way that rewards team play and deemphasizes leveling up and getting kills.
