Does anyone own a Zune? I've never even seen one in real life other than at a store.
Why would one choose a Zune over an iPod?
I pray this thread doesn't turn into an Apple vs. Microsoft thread - I'm just wondering what the allure is to own a Zune.

ATTN Seattle Shackers + MechWarrior: Living Legends Menz,
I'm contemplating doing a live viewing/demo/presentation to some Shackers in the Seattle area.
Previously I was just going to do it to a closed set of individuals and let them play it but I wondered maybe I should open it up to more.. however, the more there are, the less likely more people would get to play..
How many in the Seattle area would be interested?

How can you patent something that is so obvious? Did someone patent the grip the human hand makes on the joystick? What about a finger poke gesture toward a camera? Oh yeah, let's get that too -- babies everywhere are totally screwed now!
Pay up, babies!

Playing around with it I found once when I ALT-TAB instead of bringing up the standard windows list of programs running the screen actually rotated and shifted showing all the programs stacked up.
I can't duplicate this but I would like to figure out how I did it.

I'm currently yum'ing it / compiling it... I know not a lot of linux guys might not use that db, but at the same time, I figure they'd at least throw the .so files for that and say ORACLE on the install by default.

My wife owns her own decorative painting company - sole employee, subcontracts for help. After expenses and whatnot, she pays herself about $50K a year. For one large commercial job, they demanded that she have worker's comp for herself - she has always had liability insurance, but never worker's comp.
She checked around, and got a quote - $6500 a year (!?!). That sounded outrageous, but we don't have a real reference point. Doesn't make any sense to me that insurance would be an 1/8th of her salary. I told her she could get the insurance, get paid by this company (the work is done - she just needs to provide insurance proof to get paid, which makes this more ridiculous), and then cancel the policy. At this point, the policy ends up costing her more than she'll get paid!
tl;dr - is 1/8 of your salary normal to pay for worker's comp insurance?

For instance, I know you shouldn't rely on MAC address filtering because the addresses are easily spoofed.
How about turning off SSID broadcast? I heard that's worthless too, but why? Is it bad to use it or just not beneficial?
Any other good tips? A coworker said he heard about a new application put out by a Russian group that uses your GPU to crunch numbers and continually narrow down potential security keys based on sniffing wi-fi packets. What's that all about?

So, remember Gamestop killing preorders on Dawn of War 2, possibly because of the Steam requirement, possibly because Steam edging in on retail sales?
Well... I wonder if this is Valve giving them the finger:
