LEGO and TT Games Extend Development Partnership

LEGO and TT Games Publishing today announced an extension of their "exclusive partnership" which will see the LEGO Star Wars and LEGO Rock Band developer continuing to develop video games based upon the plastic blocks through 2016.

"The games we develop with TT Games are not just great fun but also inspire kids to play with their LEGO bricks, exploring our different play themes more deeply," said LEGO Digital vice president Henrik Taudorf Lorensen in a press statement. "We are very excited to continue to work with TT Games because they take a distinctive approach to making games creative, social and non-violent, which makes them a valuable part of the broader LEGO experience." LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars Announced

Traveller's Tales and LucasArts today announced the latest fruit of their long-running plastic platonic relationship, the cartoon-inspired LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars.

Clone Wars features "fan-favourite characters" from Star Wars movies as well as the animated series, plus "brand new battle modes, giving players unique, head-to-head combat and an upgraded level builder" as well as abilities such as "Squad command, Lightsaber slicing, Lightsaber jumps, long distance Jedi attacks and Grapple Tie-Ups." Green Day: Rock Band Developers Clarified

Following a recent discovery from info-sleuthing site superannuation, in which Demiurge Studios' Adam Rosenfield revealed that Rock Band developer Harmonix had enlisted Demiurge to help make Green Day: Rock Band, publisher MTV Games has confirmed the collaboration through statements to both Joystiq and Destructoid.

Demiurge Studios previously worked with Harmonix on the Rock Band: Country Track Pack and the Rock Band: Metal Track Pack, and were also responsible for the PC port of Mass Effect. MK12, the design firm behind the fantastic cinematics for The Beatles: Rock Band has also been brought on board to contribute. Read more »

LEGO Indiana Jones 2 Arriving This Fall

Following the accidential revelation of both LEGO Harry Potter and LEGO Indiana Jones 2 earlier this year, developer Traveller's Tales and publisher LucasArts today confirmed that LEGO Indiana Jones 2: The Adventure Continues is due out this fall.

Coming to PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii, Nintendo DS and PSP, LEGO Indy 2 is said to offer "a tongue-in-cheek take on all four cinematic adventures of pop culture's most iconic archaeologist," including a LEGO-ized rendition of last summer's fridge-nuking theatrical blockbuster Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. LEGO Rock Band Officially Announced, Includes Europe's 'The Final Countdown'

Confirming the long-running rumors, publishers Warner Bros. and MTV Games today announced that LEGO Rock Band will hit PS3, Xbox 360, Wii and DS in "holiday 2009."

LEGO Harry Potter, LEGO Indiana Jones 2 Confirmed

An animator over at LEGO Star Wars and LEGO Batman developer Traveller's Tales has confirmed that the studio is working on both LEGO Harry Potter and sequel to LEGO Indiana Jones, though she was quick to point out that they're not officially announced.

"Am currently working as a Cutscene Animator on LEGO Harry Potter & LEGO Indiana Jones 2: The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull which are both in the early stages of production," Carlotte Parker noted in her online Curriculum Vitae. Read more »

LEGO Rock Band, LEGO Harry Potter Rumors Swirl

Some new rumors have emerged regarding future video games in Traveller's Tales' LEGO series, which has seen Star Wars, Indiana Jones, and Batman releases.

LEGO Batman Becoming TV Show

A television series based off Traveller's Tales' upcoming action game LEGO Batman is currently in production, beginning with a one-off short about 20 minutes in length.

While Warner Bros.-owned developer Traveller's Tales will have no direct involvement in the show, which is being handled by a separate studio in the United States, the series will utilize the same technology and assets that power the block-busting game. Read more »

More LEGO Franchise Games, TV Show Planned

LEGO Batman and LEGO Star Wars developer Traveller's Tales is planning to produce more LEGO titles based on properties controlled by parent corporation Warner Bros. as well as an upcoming children's television series, the developer has revealed.

As the studio's latest effort LEGO Batman nears its September release on virtually every major platform, Traveller's Tales president Jon Burton told Variety that the company has "gotten started doing some LEGO games [based on Warner properties]." Read more »
