Heat Signature is next game from Gunpoint creator

Gunpoint creator Tom Francis is currently working on his next project, a 2D stealth adventure set in space called Heat Signature. Francis posted a 14-minute video demonstrating the current prototype, showing the game's flight mechanics and top-down stealth action.

Gunpoint packs level editor

Puzzling stealthy hack 'em up Gunpoint will have a level editor, creator Tom Francis has confirmed. It looks like a pleasingly simple click-and-drag affair with pre-built pieces, so you should be making your own facilities for your hacker to infiltrate in no time at all. Once it's released, whenever that ends up happening.

This past week, I've been playing the IGF 2012 build of a game that fans of tactical action-based espionage should have every reason to be excited about. The game is called Gunpoint--developed by Tom Francis, John Roberts, and Fabian van Dommelen--and it has players take on the role of an incorrigible, trench-coated spy-for-hire who plies his trade by breaking into office buildings and stealing coveted data for his employers.

IGF 2012 Main Competition finalists announced

The finalists for the 14th annual Independent Games Festival's Main Competition have been announced, highlighting some of the greatest indie games to come out in the past year. Indie game fans might notice a couple of familiar titles like the oft-nominated platforming adventure Fez (by Polytron) and Alexander Bruce's mind-melting first person puzzler, Antichamber. That said, the IGF juries have selected a number of less-exposed titles that are well-deserving of some recognition.
