Twenty-five years before the events of Deus Ex, a man named Adam Jensen was caught in the middle of a fight that would dictate the path leading to a grim future. In 2011, the story continues with Deus Ex: Human Revolution from developer Eidos Montreal.

With the franchise's anticipated revival coming on August 24, Shacknews stealthily stole some time with the game's director Jean-François Dugas. Read more »

Eidos Montreal taps partner studio for PC version of Deus Ex: Human Revolution

In an upcoming interview with Shacknews, Deus Ex: Human Revolution game director Jean-François Dugas clarified that the PC version of the upcoming game is not being solely developed by the team at Eidos Montreal.

When asked whether or not the PC version was developed in-house, Dugas told Shack: "No. Well, it was done in-house, but with a partnership." Interview: Portal 2 project lead Joshua Weier and writer Erik Wolpaw

With Portal 2's release a few weeks away, Valve opted to pull back the curtain on on the game's single-player experience during a recent preview at PAX East 2011.

Our coverage of that preview outlined some of the gags heard within the first ten minutes of gameplay, along with a smattering of story from later in the game (if you don't want to know a thing about the game, you may want to avoid reading it). Read more »

Warp Preview (and video of the complete demo)

One adorable surprise from PAX East 2011 was the independently developed puzzle-stealth title Warp. Being released under the EA Partners banner, Warp is currently being crafted by the Montreal-based team at Trapdoor Inc.

Warp puts players in control of an imprisoned creature who, much to the surprise of his captors, can teleport short distances. Though scientists want to examine the creature, for presumably nefarious reasons (is there ever a good reason to?), the game's hero has no intention of staying put. Read more »

Fallen Frontier Preview

Fallen Frontier Preview

As a society, we've been promised a lot of things for our future: flying cars, jetpacks, and robot helpers who may rise against us after a random (yet harrowing) electrical storm. But there's one very specific thing we've recently been promised that has me tapping my foot impatiently, watching as the calendar pages fall softly on to the ground: the release of Fallen Frontier from Moonshot Games. Five minutes of Fez

Indie developer Polytron has released a delightful new trailer for Fez, showing off a full five-and-a-bit minutes from the version that was recently demonstrated at PAX East 2011.

As you'll see, Fez is a 2D platformer set in a 3D world, which players can rotate to discover and create new routes through levels. What may seem an uncrossable chasm from one angle might vanish when viewed from a new perspective. It all looks quite clever and more than a wee bit lovely. Read more »

Mizuguchi: Child of Eden's 'Journey Project' yielded as many as five thousand submissions

In September 2010, Ubisoft announced it would use user-submitted images that represented the game's theme of hope and happiness to help craft the final stage of Q? Entertainment's upcoming title Child of Eden.

Portal 2 Preview

Like all great mornings, waking up in the new living quarters at Aperture Laboratories begins with rigorous exercise. Look up, look down, and jump. Mandatory fitness and wellness exercise: passed with flying colors. Apparently fitness isn't as important as they let on at Aperture.

Even when it attempts to teach you the most basic mechanics of a first-person title, Portal 2 applies a thick layer of slapstick. Read more »

L.A. Noire Preview

There was a murder last night. A woman. Tall, blonde. She was beaten to death with a tire iron in a secluded part of Los Angeles, a place usually reserved for lovers to escape to, in order to get a little more well acquainted. They usually call the place "The Moors." Today, the LAPD are calling it a crime scene. The press will call it the scene of "The Red Lipstick Murder."

Sitting in a dark room in the middle of PAX East 2011, a representative of Rockstar Games begins the demo for the upcoming cop-thriller L.A. Noire. As a newly christened homicide detective, Cole Phelps dusts off his blue pinstriped suit jacket, adjusts his hat, and rushes to the scene with his partner for the case. Read more »

Twisted Pixel did confirm that the as-yet-announced title will be the project currently under the watchful eye of ex-Harmonix senior designer Dan Teasdale, who joined the indie developer last summer.
