While Sony announced a number of new games at its press conference in Germany, Uncharted 3 remained one of the biggest attention-grabbers of the show. The Gamescom trailer captured a touching moment between Drake and Elena... before jumping into an over-the-top action sequence that has Drake downing a plane.
Today, Naughty Dog has released a seven minute video, showing off the entire gameplay sequence.

Indie developer Honeyslug announced an incredibly odd little game it's working on for the PlayStation Vita called Frobisher Says. Based on the debut trailer, the game seems spiritually-related to mini-game based titles like those in the WarioWare series, but will utilize all manner of the Vita's input capabilities, including its camera, gyroscope, microphone, and front and rear touch pads.

Back in November of 2010, Blizzard began posting job listings for a "Diablo-related project for consoles," and speculated about the possibility of developing a console version of Diablo 3 in its community forums. Today, at a Gamescom press conference, Blizzard all but confirmed that such a version of the game is in the works.
Diablo 3 lead designer Josh Mosqueira asserted that Blizzard "is very, very serious about bringing the Diablo 3 experience to the console," adding that the developer is currently recruiting a team to handle the initiative.

Quite possibly the biggest news out of Gamescom yesterday was Sony's abrupt announcement of a global PS3 price drop. The cheapest model is now $249, a $50 drop from $299. The system, which originally launched at $599 nearly five years ago, was a notorious loss-leader for the Japanese hardware manufacturer. Can the Blu-ray-playing, Cell-equipped console really be sold at that price without incurring a loss? The answer is "yes."
"It is still profitable," SCEA's John Koller said. "We're not going into the red."

Crysis 2 developer Crytek has announced that its free-to-play Warface will come Westward in 2012. The sillily-named shooter was previously only confirmed for South Korea and China, where the F2P model is hugely successful.
Along with the PvP modes you'd expect from a class-based multiplayer shooter, Warface will pack PvE co-op missions. It's being co-produced by Crytek Seoul.

Steel Battalion Heavy Armor got announced at last year's Tokyo Game Show as part of a presentation of five original games in development by Japanese studios for Microsoft's Kinect. Since then little has been mentioned about the game. Gamers have been left to wonder how a game that on the Xbox came with a legendary special controller that simulated tank controls with two sticks and panels of buttons and switches could be played without a controller at all. New info and a trailer from Gamescom do little to address that burning question but do provide some new info on where the game is headed.

One of the cuddlier announcements to come out of Gamescom 2011 today was that the Kinectimals series will be coming to Windows Phone. Like the Kinect original, the game will allow players to virtually interact with cuddly cats... and bears!
