Museum of the Moving Image tackles Madden history

Video games were recently highlighted by the Smithsonian, but smaller galleries have been delving into the medium as well. New York's Museum of the Moving Image has announced an exhibit covering the history of the Madden NFL series, not coincidentally coinciding with the upcoming Super Bowl that will also be hosted in the New York/New Jersey area. The gallery will be open starting today, January 9, and run through February 23.

After three years of EA rule, Chillingo co-founders Chris Byatte and Joe Wee have left the company. They're the third set of high-profile departures from EA-bought studios confirmed in the past week, following two Criterion co-founders plus a PopCap co-founder and its CEO.

Titanfall dev will 'evaluate' mod support after launch

Titanfall dev will 'evaluate' mod support after launch

The life of many a PC game has been revitalised and extended by player-made mods, but not every developer has the resources and inclination to officially support them. Developer Respawn Entertainment has confirmed that Titanfall won't have official mod support at launch, but it's open to the possibility of sorting that out later.

Warhammer Online veteran muses saving dead MMO as offline 'double-clickable museum'

Warhammer Online veteran muses saving dead MMO as offline 'double-clickable museum'

What happens when an MMORPG shuts down? Well, it probably lives on through pirate servers. But what happens officially? It vanishes. After EA pulled the plug on Warhammer Online last Thursday, former lead client engineer Andrew Meggs has idly proposed an alternative: turning on a debug feature which lets the game run offline so the world lives on forever, albeit without anyone else in it.

EA hit with class action lawsuit over Battlefield 4 bugs

EA hit with class action lawsuit over Battlefield 4 bugs

Battlefield 4 launched riddled with bugs. Since then, EA and DICE have suspended development of DLC as it continues to roll out updates that try to make the game more stable for players. Unsurprisingly, a class action lawsuit has been filed regarding Battlefield's bumpy launch. However, what is surprising is who is filing the suit.

The class action covers investors, anyone who purchased EA common stock between July 24 and December 4. The reason? The complaint alleges that EA over-promised on Battlefield 4, and that the glitchy launch has stunted the game's sales--which, in turn, has lowered the stock value for investors.

Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare reveals Battlefield-y mode

Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare reveals Battlefield-y mode

Comparing a Plants vs. Zombies game to Battlefield is pretty darn weird and unexpected and confusing but hey, that's PvZ: Garden Warfare in a nutshell. PopCap today revealed the class-based multiplayer shooter's 'Gardens & Graveyards' mode, describing it as "a bit of a mix between of Battlefield's Rush and Conquest modes, intertwined with some tower defense elements similar to the original PvZ."

Alexander Gustafsson joins Jon Jones on the EA Sports UFC cover

EA had previously announced that UFC Light Heavyweight Champion, Jon 'Bones' Jones, would grace the cover of EA Sports UFC. But there's one more fighter that will join Jones on the cover, determined by over 11 million fan votes. Coincidentally, fans voted for Alexander 'The Mauler' Gustafsson, who squared off against (and, whom many will argue, beat) Jones in September.

Battlefield 4 PS4 patch aims at crashes

As pleasant as Battlefield 4 may be, it's also a mite wonky--enough so that developer DICE paused work on its DLC until the FPS is in better shape. The PC version got a little TLC earlier this week, and now it's the PS4's turn. A new patch today brings plenty of crash fixes, and a few other tweaks.

Insomniac's Outernauts headed to iOS, dropping browser version

After about a year and a half, Insomniac is ready to take its monster-collection RPG, Outernauts, and re-release it as a free-to-play iOS title.
