E3 doesn’t officially begin for another three days, leaving publishers like EA and Bethesda to stake their claim in this weekend before the noise and bluster of the conference proper begins. Electronic Arts kicked things off with its now-annual EA Play showcase, and Shacknews CEO and editorial director Asif Khan, editor-in-chief Steve Watts, contributing editor David Craddock, and intern Donovan Erskine convened to record a podcast and hash out their impressions of Star Wars Battlefront 2, Battlefield 1’s In the Name of the Tsar expansion, BioWare’s forthcoming Anthem RPG, the return of NBA Live, and other games announced at the event. After that, talk turned to speculation and expectations for Microsoft’s Xbox Scorpio-focused conference.

You can listen to the podcast on Podbean or subscribe. If you need to catch up on the announcements and trailers that came out of EA Play, go back and watch our live reactions, and make sure to tune in tomorrow at 2:00pm PT / 5:00pm ET to watch us chat over Microsoft’s showcase.
