Nintendo undecided on making Nintendo Land a Wii U pack-in

At the conclusion of Nintendo's E3 press conference, many had concluded that Nintendo Land would be bundled with the Wii U, not unlike Wii Sports was included with Nintendo's last-gen console. As a collection of mini-games, it certainly seems analogous. Katsuya Eguchi, producer of the game, agrees that the comparison is fair, but admits that he doesn't know what the plan is.

"If you think of Wii U and Nintendo Land as having the same relationship as Wii Sports and Wii--the concept is sort of similar, so you may be able to imagine the scenario."

Dead Space 3 preview

QUICKTAKE: The third chapter in space engineer Isaac Clarke's saga of terror is set to continue with Dead Space 3, and developer Visceral Games is bringing a few new tricks to the party. Besides being able to play the campaign cooperatively, things like a "lean-in" cover system and the inclusion of human enemies are new series additions--as is a new ice planet, which provides a stark presentational contrast with the series' traditional claustrophobic locales.

Dead Island Riptide announced, is a mystery

Dead Island Riptide announced, is a mystery

Sometimes publishers use E3 to spill their guts about a new game, blasting screenshots, fact sheets and trailers into our soft faces. Other times, they casually drop a small announcement then walk away, like a lout tossing an empty cola can on the pavement.

The latter's the case with Dead Island Riptide, Techland's sequel to zombie shooter-RPG Dead Island, announced at E3 by publisher Deep Silver for PC and consoles. And that's all we know.

This is what a next-gen Final Fantasy could look like

This is what a next-gen Final Fantasy could look like

What would a next generation Final Fantasy look like? That's the question Agni's Philosophy answers. Developed by Square Enix's Japanese team, it's the first public demonstration of the company's Luminous Studio engine. And it is incredibly impressive. Imagine, if you will, a pre-rendered cutscene from Final Fantasy XIII--but running in real time on DirectX 11 hardware.

F-Zero appearing in Nintendo Land

Nintendo closed out its E3 press briefing today with Nintendo Land, a mini-game collection to show off the strengths of the Wii U control mechanism. Each of 12 areas is themed after a Nintendo property, but Nintendo is only making five available to play on the show floor. The Old Republic 1.3 beta test starts tomorrow

The Star Wars: The Old Republic presentation at E3 didn't reveal too many surprises, other than an announcement that the 1.3 Allies patch for the game will be starting its public beta test tomorrow.
