When Lego puts out building sets based on popular franchises, a new licensed video game can't be far behind. The Batman incarnation expanded to include more of the Justice League roster in Lego Batman 2, and with new Marvel sets banking on the popularity of The Avengers the time is ripe for Marvel to get in on the action. Lego Marvel Super Heroes will be coming to PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii U, DS, 3DS, and Vita this fall.

Pokemon games tend to thrive on minor iteration. Through its long history, each game has added just a handful of new features. Even as an adult, I've been excited to try out each new game. I've been eager to pick my starter Pokemon and begin exploring, catching new monsters, and engaging in battles. I say all this to point out the sad truth: Black 2 is the first time I've felt so utterly fatigued with Pokemon.

Many lifelong Pokemon fans have been frustrated to see their beloved monster-collecting franchise never make the jump into a proper console adventure. With the impending launch of Pokemon Black & White Version 2 for Nintendo DS, one has to wonder: why hasn't developer Game Freak pursued making a 3D adventure?
Producer Junichi Masuda said that moving to 3D would make the franchise lose its distinct flavor. "The feeling and the control of the character is also very important to us. There is definitely a certain feeling you have when you control these 2D characters. It may be different if we switched over to 3D," he said.

The Japanese gaming giant is continuing to struggle. After posting a tough annual loss earlier this year, the first quarter of its new fiscal year is also in the red.
The company reported a net loss of approximately 17 billion yen ($221 million). The company's fiscal year forecasts remain the same, aiming to sell 18.5 million 3DS consoles and 10.5 combined Wii U and Wii consoles.

Since Nintendo's 3DS price drop, the prices of the company's older portable systems have seemed a little off. The spiffy new system became a cool $169.99, while the old DSi XL remained the same price, $169.99. Even the standard DSi is set at $149.99, meaning twenty bucks was the difference between new and old. That issue is being fixed with new price points coming soon.

The Amazing Spider-Man holds the rare distinction of being a superhero movie licensed game that actually looks pretty good. We're still going with "cautiously optimistic," but if the good buzz has convinced you to pre-order the game, Activision has detailed the playable characters you can snag for doing so.

There were a small handful of games on display at the Namco Bandai Global Gamers Day event in Las Vegas last week that didn't receive any fanfare during the keynote address. In fact, save for a single mid-sized banner posted near a couple of kiosks sporting Nintendo DS consoles, one might never have known that the ThunderCats franchise is getting a new game this August. Developer Aspect Digital is the studio behind the side-scrolling action title, simply called Thundercats.

Adventure Time creator Pendleton Ward has made no secret his desire to create a video game adaptation of his popular Cartoon Network series. "If it was a small budget I'd work to make a sidescroller," he said last year. "But if we had the largest budget in the world I'd love to make something like Oblivion, but set in the Adventure Time universe where it's a giant free-roaming world."
Unfortunately for fans, The Elder Scrolls VI: Adventure Time is not happening. But at least a game is in the works.
