Nintendo has swapped Mondays for Thursdays in bringing new downloadable offerings, now that the eShop is available for the 3DS. This week brings the Game Boy Donkey Kong to the 3DS Virtual Console; this game bears little resemblance to the classic arcade title, and is more of a precursor to the current Mario vs Donkey Kong puzzle series. It will cost you $3.99.
Other available games as DSiWare (3DS or DSi) include the historical-themed puzzle game Gold Fever ($4.99), camera-based game Hidden Photo ($4.99), Beach Party Craze ($7.99), and Zimo: Mahjong Fanatic ($1.99). Read more »

Fresh off the heels of E3, Nintendo has revealed several new release dates for 3DS, Wii, and DS titles. Much of Nintendo's most anticipated first-party content remains labeled "TBA" or "Holiday," but a few new release dates stand out. Star Fox 64 3D is set for September 11, while Kirby Mass Attack is now slated for the regular DS on September 19.
In third-party news, Ubisoft is set to release several 3DS casual titles on October 25, and Sega is throwing its weight behind the 3DS eShop with planned releases of Dragon Crystal, Shinobi, Sonic Drift 2, and Sonic the Hedgehog: Triple Trouble this summer. Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked is coming on August 30, and Rayman Origins is due March 13, 2012. Read more »

While we can feel the E3 press conferences coming in the air tonight -- oh lawd -- the regular news train stops for no one. That includes this week's Nintendo downloads, which are unlikely to distract you from the week's festivities. The lone WiiWare download is Ubongo for $8 (800 points), a puzzle game you may recall was offered as DSiWare several weeks ago. Read more »

Monday means fresh Nintendo downloads. This week, we're definitely noticing a puzzle theme to the proceedings. WiiWare gets Overflow for $5 (500 points), in which you twist and turn your Wii remote to shift plans and funnels to guide fluids to their proper channels.
DSiWare brings Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords for $8 (800 points). That's the original Puzzle Quest, an RPG-Bejeweled hybrid. It's already available on just about every platform imaginable, including the DS, but the downloadable version may just be the cheaper (and more convenient) way to snag it if you haven't before. Nintendo unleashed its latest round of downloads today, including the previously announced SNES classic Chrono Trigger for Virtual Console. It will cost you $8 (800 points) and -- not to impugn the other games in this week's list -- is definitely the thing you should buy if you haven't played it before (maybe even if you have).

DSiWare brings Mighty Milky Way, a quirky puzzle game starring an little alien named Luna and her arch-nemesis, a socially awkward T-Rex. The DS Lite could be fading into that hardware manufacturing plant in the sky. Go Nintendo reports that the system is being discontinued, according to a memo sent to GameStop stores.
New DS Lite systems have been discontinued and stores will no longer be replenished on this product. Once your store sells through its current stock of these units, please remove any corresponding DS Lite (Crimson, Black, and Metallic Rose) display boxes from the sales floor and discard.
