Homefront Delayed to March 15; UFC Personal Trainer Pushed to 'Fiscal 2012'

During an investor call today, THQ president and CEO Brian Farrell announced that the company has repositioned the release of its upcoming first-person shooter Homefront to one week later than it was originally intended to invade store shelves.

Currently in development for console by Kaos Studios and for the PC by Digital Extremes, Homefront was originally scheduled to arrive on March 8 but will now see release on March 15, according to Joystiq.Reason for the delay was not specified but it may have something to do with the March 8 release of BioWare's upcoming RPG sequel, Dragon Age 2. Star Wars: The Old Republic Delayed; Would Be 'Substantially Profitable' With 500,000 Subscribers

BioWare's Force-powered MMORPG Star Wars: The Old Republic has been delayed, publisher EA revealed yesterday while announcing its earnings for the financial quarter. The Old Republic was slated to launch this spring but is now due expected later this calendar year, at some point after EA's next fiscal year begins on April 1.

EA CEO John Riccitiello fielded a number of questions about the MMO during a Q&A session for investors, touching on where EA aims to position The Old Republic in the marketplace, the number of subscribers it hopes for, and those dastardly "gamer blogs." Read more »

Conduit 2 Delayed Until April

Sega's Conduit 2 has already seen multiple delays, and now it's getting hit with another. IGN reports that the game has been pushed from March 22 to April 19.

A company spokesperson said the extra time is to "continue to balance and enhance the game's multiplayer, one of the key features and focuses during the development of this ambitious sequel." Read more »

Final Fantasy Versus XIII Delayed to Incorporate 'Incredible Things'

Square Enix developer Tetsuya Nomura has advised fans that Final Fantasy Versus XIII, a new game about which little is known, won't be getting a release date any time in the near future. The report comes via Eurogamer, culled from an interview conducted between Nomura and Japanese gaming magazine Dengeki PlayStation (translated via Andriasang).

Activision Claims Infinity Ward Delayed MW2 Map Pack as Favor to EA

Activision has been allowed to add EA as a defendent in its $400 million countersuit against former Infinity Ward heads Jason West and Vince Zampella, as the company aims to prove they were planning to move to EA while under Activision contract. Gamasutra reports that newly revealed e-mails allegedly show Infinity Ward delayed a Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 map pack as a favor to EA.

PlayStation 3 Hacker Case Delayed

Sony's lawsuit against PlayStation 3 hacker George Hotz (a.k.a. "Geohot") has been delayed over confusion regarding jurisdiction. reports that at the initial hearing of the case, San Francisco district court judge Susan Illston expressed uncertainty over the case being held in California.

The actual security breach was performed in Hotz' home state of New Jersey, making Illston pose the possibility that the case should be held there. Sony's lawyers argued that the widespread dissemination of the hack was on Twitter and YouTube, both of which are hosted in California. They also allege that Hotz received donations from from PayPal, also based out of California. Read more »

F.E.A.R. 3 Delayed Again, Now Due in May

Day 1's spooky shooter sequel F.E.A.R. 3 has again been delayed. publisher Warner Bros. has confirmed it's now slated to launch in May. The game's launch was previously scheduled for March 2011 but had originally been announced for fall 2010

"The F.E.A.R. 3 launch date will now be in May 2011, as we look to deliver the best possible game for our consumers," reads a WB statement provided to us today. Read more »

Deus Ex: Human Revolution Delayed for "Further Polish"

Cyberpunk fans waiting cautiously for Deus Ex: Human Revolution will have to wait a little longer, as publisher Square Enix today told investors that it's been delayed.

Eidos Montreal's sequel to Ion Storm's beloved RPG was due to launch in the current fiscal year--which ends on March 31, 2011--but has been pushed into somewhere in the next fiscal year, which runs April 2011 to March 2012, to allow for "further polish." Read more »

Final Fantasy XIV Team Restructured; PS3 Version Delayed Indefinitely

Square Enix has announced that the PS3 version of its latest stab at an online-only Final Fantasy title has hit another bump in the road and the team behind the game will see some management changes.

In a post on the game's official site, the publisher revealed that the PlayStation 3 version of Final Fantasy XIV has been pushed from its March 2011 release until an undisclosed time. Previously, the PS3 version of the game was scheduled to arrive in September but was pushed to 2011, in part due to memory restrictions. Read more »

The Agency Now Due in Second Half of 2011

While Sony Online Entertainment's The Agency was once slated to launch in 2010, the developer's relative silence on the espionage-y shooter MMO over the year has made it increasingly clear that it wouldn't meet that. Now, we have a better idea of when it's due.

Speaking to Kotaku, SOE president John Smedley revealed that The Agency is still in development and now scheduled to launch some time in the second half of 2011. Read more »

Portal 2 Delayed; Hits Stores April 20 in North America and Australia, April 22 in Europe

[Update: 5:40] Valve has told Shacknews that Portal 2 will hit North America and Australia on April 20 and on April 22 in Europe.The original press release noted the game would be pushed to "the week of April 18," when contacted a Valve represented clarified the actual dates, adding: "We say the week of April 18 because it will be different days depending on where you live, due to retailer "new release" days." Valve says more release dates and info will be released as we get closer to launch. Read more »

Behemoth's BattleBlock Theater Delayed; Will Not Release in 2010

BattleBlock Theater, the third game from The Behemoth (Castle Crashers, Alien Hominid), has been delayed and pushed right out of 2010 as the game "is becoming so much more than we ever expected."

It feels like no other game out there - there's a little more r&d than we thought and lots of new ground to break. This means we will not be releasing in 2010.

The Witcher 2 Delayed Until May 2011

There's good news and there's bad news. The good news is that developer CD Projekt RED now has a specific release date in mind for The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings. The bad news is that it's May 17, 2011--some two months after the planned March 2011 launch the PC RPG sequel was said to still be on track for as recently as October.

Ubisoft Sales Improve but Still Operating at a Loss; New Ghost Recon and Driver Delayed Again

Ubisoft has released its financial results report for the first-half of 2010-11, showing a 57 percent increase in sales. The Paris-based developer and publisher announced sales for the reporting period were €260 million ($354.2M) versus €166M ($226.1M) last year.

During the six-month period, Ubisoft reported a net loss of €89.8M ($122.3M). In the same period last year, Ubisoft's net loss capped at €52M ($70.6M). Read more »
