Gas Powered's Kings and Castles 'On Hold'
by Alice O'Connor, Feb 07, 2011 6:00am PSTGas Powered Games' fantasy RTS Kings and Castles is currently on hold, studio founder and creative director Chris Taylor has told Big Download.
"We've put the project on hold for now, but the moment I know more I will let you know," Taylor told the site in an e-mail. Pressed for more information, he simply said "I can't go into those details just yet... let's call it a 'timing' thing..."
Kings and Castles was announced for PC and consoles by Gas Powered--also creator of Dungeon Siege and Supreme Commander--in February 2010. Players would be one of three kings vying for control of a fantasy world. Here's how it looked at E3 last year:

If they were expecting investor or publisher money to come in and fund the rest of the development, which was the whole point of the videos, and it didn't happen, then that would put the game on hold. If that is what happen, we should expect layoff annoucements soon.
Its possible they got a development deal for another game and it was too good to pass up.
Or their other game, aka the secret project, needed more resources to get finished.
I guess they could be working to get Dungeon Siege III to get it out the door.

Total Annihilation: Kingdoms ---> Kings and Castles?
IIRC Chris Taylor was with Cavedog when Kingdoms was developed. I played Total Annihilation more than any human should have and bought Kingdoms purely on love for Cavedog and T.A. What a huge turd that game was. Hopefully this one works out better.
