What is some good stable stock that is good to invest in for the long term? Im not looking for get-rich-quick stuff, just stable stock.
Im think Wal-Mart and Target are good bets, anymore?

Stocks aren't "always great" either; in fact, they're down quite frequently. The risk is MUCH higher when you don't diversify your holdings and just buy a few stocks, than when you let a manager properly diversify your holdings.
My 401(k), for example, is making about 12% annually, on average, since I started putting money into it, which is much better than the DJIA or S&P 500. However, during the crash years, it was down somewhat just like everything else -- but down maybe 4% instead of the crazy double digit percentage losses a lot of people who only held a few stocks took.
