So I've fallen out of the PC hardware loop, but think it's about time for an upgrade, given how many PC games I missed out on in the last few years.
I currently have a AMD 64 3500+ and 9800 GTX, so anything will be an improvement, but I'd rather go all out now and have a system that will last me at least two years without the need to upgrade again.

1) Need the DVD drive because my current drives are all IDE.
2) The GTX 580 seems to be the new hotness. I haven't owned an eVGA card before, but they seem to be pretty well-received. I actually prefer Asus, but this card seems to be higher-rated than Asus' comparable offering.
3) I've only been buying Kingston memory since I started building computers, so I don't see any reason to rock the boat. I'm not sure about all the new DDR3 ratings, but this seems compatible with the board so what the hell.
4) I definitely want to get in on the SSD craze at this point, and the Crucial C300 seems like the best money can buy right now. I already have two internal 1 TB WD drives for storage, so the SSD will just be for Windows 7, applications, and games I guess.
5) I chose the 2600K because, again, I don't want to upgrade this thing for a while, and don't mind spending a little extra money now.
6) I chose the Asus board because it seems to have all the features I want and I've had good luck with Asus in the past.
Not listed, I'm getting this Thermalright heatsink and a 120mm stealth fan from FrozenCPU.
