"Apt manager won't let me break my lease", of course she won't let you. Contracts can be broken. What can she do, deny your security deposit refund? You submit a letter of intent to vacate with a target day and a way to contact you, with sufficient notice (usually 30 days) and she has to honor your intent to break the lease.
