If new features come out, we give you a new one.
I say spend your money on a decent router/firewall and don't worry about the cable modem.
Any modem that you find in retail will be around $75-$150. You want to purchase something that does 4 Downstream X 4 Upstream channels.
When the 8 X 8s come out in a year or so, you would have to purchase a new modem. I just don't see why anyone would want to.
Ubee (used to be called Ambit) makes a great modem as well, not sure if they sell to retail, and the Scientific Atlanta/Cisco DPC3000 is excellent too.
