People seem to have the misconception that people who role-play or write fan-fiction or whatever you guys consider "lame" have lost touch with reality, when the actual reality of the situation is that most of the people that enjoys these things are pretty normal people who simply like to escape the real world every now and then. The people you see in movies or TV shows that are so involved with role-playing that they actually believe what's going on are actually a very small minority.
A nerd or geek can be anybody these days; a lawyer, a doctor, a drill sergeant - and that's the beauty of it. Being a geek or nerd is no longer the social stigma that it once was, geeks and nerds have become fairly, dare I say it, normal.
