in life, i like to be uncomfortable, too. in fact, if i'm not taking a risk or feel slightly scared/out of my depth (usually with work because of the challenges) then i think i'm doing something wrong. but this doesn't translate to me not meshing with the overall vibe of people who are native to the san francisco bay area. in fact, i would say that kind of difference is part of my issue with folks around these parts - we think differently, we move at different speeds, and we react differently to different levels of discomfort and disagreement. again, most of my experience is with people professionally because i don't have many native west coast friends. i think i can count them on two hands, and clearly we get along or else we wouldn't be friends.
as for weather, i enjoy discernable seasons. i'm not very outdoorsy, but i like it, and i think i can enjoy what i like better on the east coast - but again, hiking and going oystering and shit like that over here is awesome. i miss (oddly) the atlantic ocean in the summertime. to me, the pacific doesn't compare, but i like to swim and hang out. if i surfed, it would be different.
you don't have to defend your liking your region. i just don't as much.
