Finally set out to beat it. I had played little bits before, but never beaten it.

God damn, Ultra-Violence Doom 2 was fun as shit. New games these days need to step it up.

Also people seem to have this weird misconception of Doom and Doom 2 where they think the game just threw dozens and dozens of enemies at you at once, but that was never really the case. there are a few instances where you have to fight like 10 or 12 enemies at once, but for the most part you're only up against four or five at a time. those games were never about hoards. they were built to run on 386's which usually couldn't handle having too many enemies. Final Doom did kick it up quite a bit, and you can download a number of user made levels with absurd amounts of enemies, but the actual levels in Doom and Doom 2 always had manageable amounts of enemies.
