It's most likely network related -- either the iPhone is doing MMS via IP or something and they need to build out the service (which would not surprise me) or they are worried about the excess traffic that the phone would create. The excess bandwidth argument makes sense considering the fact that apparently iPhone users are raping bandwidth at every turn anyway
