We only have 4 slots left in the alliance -- after that, we'll start purging folks who have been inactivity for several weeks (threshold is still TBD). We may even have to consider starting up a second Shack alliance!
Also, I'll be launching a new subthread today called "War Zone", to help centralize reports of attack on our alliance and coordinate offensives. If your'e ready to start mixing it up, be sure to read stuff that's posted there and pay special attention to ]pm[chem, CalibanX and Agrona -- they're our acting generals.
Finally, please double-check to make sure your Shackname and Evony nickname appear in the Who's Playing list. And apologies if you've posted your info in a previous thread and it still isn't showing up: there's a lot of data I need to pore over, and things are also really busy IRL.

* Make sure you're not an attractive target to attackers by having low resources (invest them in the market, troops, or upgrades), or you have enough defenses to make unappealing the effort vs reward for attacking you.
* Look at chem's NPC raiding guide here: http://www.shacknews.com/laryn.x?id=19906544
. . . I followed this for my first attack this morning and found that 1000 warriors was enough on their own to take a level 1 city
. . . Also, when chem talks about waves, he's just talking about individual attacks. There is no alternate interface for setting up your troops when attacking a town as opposed to a valley.
* Look for people around you who are also recently out of newbie protection (status will read Peacetime as opposed to beginner when you click on their town). Scout them and determine whether or not they're worth raiding.
* Archers and archery tech seems to be the bee's knees early on for attacking, while archer towers seem to be the way to go for defense.
. . . Right now I have 1000+ archer towers in my main town and still don't feel comfortable with those defenses, so build as many as you can to ensure you're not an attractive target in any way.
* Upgrade your town hall to level 7 or 8 (sorry, not sure which it is) to give your keep that big badass look on the world map. I do a lot of my "shopping" by just glancing at the map, and am not comfortable in attacking a city that looks that big yet, so you can bet it will be the same with others recently out of newbie protection.
If you need help in game, you're getting attacked, whatever, then post in RMR's "War Zone" subthread and people will help fi they can.
