A lot of people (including Shackers) argue and believe the PS3 sales are coming primarily from people wanting a Blu-ray player. They also argue these people will not buy games, resulting in a significantly lower attach rate for the PS3, a weaker system, and a host of other things.
If this assumption is true*, then it follows that there should be a significant gap between the sales rate of the PS3 and 360 version of a very hyped, highly successful, cross platform game. What he's noting is this gap was not seen in the sales of GTA4, so there's no evidence to suggest a significant portion of PS3 owners bought their consoles strictly as a blu-ray player with no intention of buying games.
*Now, there is another implicit assumption about the population of PS3 owners and 360 owners. I realize some people will be quick to jump on that, but keep in mind finding fault with this assumption does not automatically lead to the conclusion that a significant number of PS3 systems are sold exclusively as blu-ray players. All he is saying is the sales rate of the PS3 and 360 version of GTA4 did not support the hypothesis that a significant number of PS3 owners only own the PS3 as a blu-ray player.
