Wait. Wolfs not laughing.

When he says his "XBOX 360 died" does he mean it won't turn on? Won't power-up? Gives a "dirty disc error" when you insert a game? Or does it play for a bit, and then die?
I am also curious how the replacement thing works.
I had problems with my original XBOX and I called MS Customer Service and it was going to cost me something like $150 Cdn. by the time I shipped it off to them and got it back refurbished. Instead I took it to EBGames, traded it in, got $100 store credit and bought a brand new one that's worked (knock on wood) ever since.
With the XBOX 360 does Wolf have to keep packaging it up and sending it back to MS? Or does his retailer keep replacing them for him at the point of sale?
Really shitty luck, I feel so bad for the guy. AFAIAC he is the biggest XBOX 360 supporter I know, even with all this bad luck. And with GoW (errr... GEARS KRATOS FTW ) out, what a time for it to die.
I was going to post some possible things for him to check -- stuff not mentioned in this thread that I can see -- but I dunno if he's done everything.
One thing someone tried was elevating his XBOX 360 power chord off the ground, by balancing it on a plain box. Off the ground = it doesn't overheat like it did sitting on the floor. And that completely fixed his problem. (Read that on a Gamespot forum a few mins. ago. But that was from like Nov 2005).
