Quake Champions Footage Shows Id's Esports Boss Destroying the Arena

The Blood Covenant arena wasn't all that challenging for ZeRo4.

There are FPS gamers, particularly the eSports experts, who make a game look so absurdly easy. It's a double whammy when one of those experts works for the developer. In this case, id Software's eSports Manager John "ZeRo4" Hill makes the Quake Champions' Blood Covenant arena his own personal playground using champion Anarki.

Hill, who was hired in February, was one of the top Quake players in the world back in the day. He is shown in this raw footage released by id destroying the competition and making a mockery of the arena itself.

Quake Champions will be at QuakeCon this year, with the game's first major eSports tournament planned for the event. Bethesda will offer more details around E3 in June, but an open qualifier will be held in the BYOC area during the event. BYOC tickets go on sale April 13.

Why is that rail gun a puny laser blast? Thing should have some oomph in the audio / visual sense. This one is more like the shock rifle from UT :(

        Probably be a $4 cosmetic

Likely. There's a video out there with more of a quake style rocket launcher, not the ridiculous looking one in this video.

It's free to play so they have to monetize somewhere, a Q2 style railgun would be so much better than whatever the shit this is, but it would need new everything, not just the model and skin. This one is junk.

But I think it's a terrible idea to have alternates of the same weapon in a game like this, you should be able to see or hear and know exactly what the other player is carrying and about to fire on you, and the more alternates they have, the more potential confusion there is.

Now that you mention it, I do remember there being a different more simple (and much better looking) RL in another video.
Has alternative weapon models been confirmed as something you can buy?

If so... I agree 100% with that being the wrong way to go about this.

            ---------------------
Also,on another note - what is with the player taunts? Sound a bit out if place. The Mortal Kombat announcer is ok I guess. It used to be there - but has now been taken to another level...

It's ridiculous to assume you'll have to buy that with money as DLC.
You'll only have to buy it with Bethesda Bucks.

I agree, looks totally like the shock rifle from UT instead of railgun. They need to redo all weapon models.

It also looks kinda slow even with the distorted fov. I know there are supposed to have character traits with more aircontrol/speed but I also remember them showing nudoom footage exclusively with a higher fov under the pretense of movement being faster than it was (because they kept insisting on how was and oldschool it was, not that a higher fov setting was implemented/possible).
