Pokemon Go's latest update breaks Go Plus connection

Niantic is working on a fix.

Pokemon Go may be dropping in popularity, but there are still millions of folks who play. Right now, however, the people with Pokemon Go Plus are a bit miffed that the most recent patch for the game seems to have borked the pairing of the game with the accessory.

"Trainers may experience issues with Pokémon GO Plus. We're aware and are working on a fix. Stand by for an update," developer Niantic has posted on its support page. The release yesterday of 1.13.3 for iOS and 0.43.3 for Android has made the game and the Go Plus device so they cannot communicate, even though a message says the two are connected. Even unpairing the two or rebooting your phone does not solve the problem.

Niantic tweeted that the iOS 1.13.4 and Android 0.43.4 updates will fix minor bugs, without mentioning Go Plus specifically. Hopefully the patch will fix the issue, as it is unlikely that fans who dropped $70 for the accessory see this issue as a minor bug.

The game, which has earned more than $600 million faster than any other mobile game, is in the middle of a Halloween event, which runs through November 1.

What a piece of shit "game". Niantic has managed to fuck it up every chance they get. I'm sure they're still raking in the cash, but imagine if they had managed to make something that remotely resembled a fun user experience.

Am I correct in my belief that they never fixed the gym sniping problem?

It's crazy. When it first came out I was like "all right, this is pretty bare-bones but I'm sure they just needed to push something out and they'll get it to where it needs to be in a couple months." but you're right... It just gets worse and worse. Such a damn shame and waste of potential.

Might be a bad game yet it's still perfect as a walking with a purpose app

Completely disagree. The art looks like placeholder. Has absolutely zero charm that a Pokemon game should have. The UI is shit, the gameplay loop isn't fun, there's a billion features they could/should add to make it a more robust experience... Even at it's most basic level (a walking with a purpose app, as you put it) it's buggy and unpredictable and their updates seem to do more harm than good.

It just could have been so much better in every way imaginable.

What could make it better for walking? I don't want to battle or trade while walking, I don't need to know exactly where the Pokemon are at I am just out for a walk and happen to have the app open in case something shows up.

Wait, the Pokemon Go Plus widget is $70?! What the shit?!

In USA GameStops it's $34.99. It's also always sold out.

Maybe it's $70 in other countries local currencies?

Are you sure? I still play daily and I see plenty of people playing. It's not as bad as it was week one but I think far more people are playing than people think

Fair enough I just keep hearing about all this drop off but I don't see it. Winter will kill it here in Wisconsin but as of now a ton of people still constantly play.

They kinda fucked up by making the game less fun to play with every update, they could be making a lot more bank right now.

this was always going to be a flash in the pan. Astronomical interest in the IP, but normal people actually don't want to go roaming around the city to play a video game. The novelty was fierce, but short-lived. That's really the best possible outcome for this type of game.

I get they had to completely stop progress to shore up against bots/external sites/apps... but what the fuck is going on there? is the game's advancement of features still completely halted to have them focus on removing cheaters? I guess there was a bunch of patches that denied rooted android folks which makes some sense, buuuutttt that's still chasing the external demons.

      where's the INTERNAL progress? features?

what an incredible halt of a game that captured the world. no one cares any longer.

also I don't understand why they don't launch their OWN companion app and site that does the tracking and everything people were demanding, when the external sites found their way into the pokemon data stream.

that would add features, and kill external leeches in one shot. people got a taste of accurate data, and cannot be left to the in-game features... so why don't they just spin up their own accurate stuff???? it's surreal how badly niantic is handling this.

that's what I was alluding to at launch - the game needs to have "stationary content" where you can in fact play when the weather outside is shitty and people aren't gonna fucking roam around aimlessly. so, will people even care in 6 months? how far behind will they be? have that feeling of "I can't do anything now, anyway"...

why isn't there gym battles from a stationary location? pick a few gyms and battle them, releasing the requirements to be AT the gym. then you get to pokestops. well, now that the speed is hard capped and all fucked up, why isn't there some sort of daily stationary minigame where you can get some resources while at home? at the office?

it's so tragic they had lightning in a bottle but had to FULL STOP development to combat external things because it was so successful, people took it to the next level of their own accord. now, people expect that level of accuracy.

Had they made some sort of virtual pet component that also would have kept people interested. Even the stupid buddy pokemon thing was pretty much useless and uninteresting.
