WildStar locks and loads 'WildStar Reloaded' free-to-play update on September 29

WildStar now has a date for its free-to-play transition, as the MMORPG will make the jump to the new WildStar Reloaded update at the end of this month, with another beta test set to kick off this Friday.

WildStar has been preparing for the next phase in the MMORPG's life cycle with this fall's free-to-play update. NCSoft and Carbine Studios now have a specific date in mind for the transition, announcing that the WildStar Reloaded update will hit on September 29.

For those that need a refresher, the WildStar Reloaded update will contain numerous changes beyond the free-to-play transition. It's set to be one of the biggest content drops in the game's short history, including an overhauled tutorial, a complete shift in the game's stats system, and streamlined dungeons. Major quality-of-life issues are also expected to arrive, including the ability the new retroactive reward system that offers perks for spending C.R.E.D.D. or NCoin currency.

There is still another closed beta left to go, though. The second closed beta will test out the WildStar Reloaded economy overhaul, including a test of the NCoin currency system. Any purchased NCoin will make the transfer to the full game when the WildStar Reloaded update goes live. This beta will is set to begin this Friday. Players can sign up by visiting the WildStar website.
