Final Fantasy 15 trailer further blends fantasy and the modern world

A new trailer for Final Fantasy XV was released today. It continues to appear unlike anything previous Final Fantasy stories have offered.

There's still little information on what Final Fantasy XV's story is. Four friends will sure drive around in a car, that much is known. Today, Square Enix is shedding a little more light on the game's story and how the combat will look.

The new Final Fantasy will look to retain many of the combat elements of the previous games in the series, but the narrative will offer an interesting blend of modern world political upheaval with a decidedly fantasy aesthetic. It's a world that will bring together magic and monsters, while also introducing modern architecture, military militias, and sleek convertibles. If nothing else, the visual is intriguing. Even if it doesn't necessarily fall in line with Steve's view on what it was all leading to, it does accomplish one feat. It certainly does inspire awe.

You can catch a glimpse at the story in the trailer below.

If you want a refresher on the original Tokyo Game Show trailer, you can also watch that below with 100% more English dialogue.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?

FF13 was such a disappointment that Square Enix has to try pretty hard to win me back

It, IMO, went from moments of "Awesome!" to *cringe* and back.

It just bugs me irrationally. It's like they just threw a dart at some pages of a dictionary and were like "Well, that works."

I laughed incredulously at the deep voiced British guy. I know it's not out yet and only a trailer so voices could change but, seriously?

The voices got me.. why can't they get good voice actors for a high profile title like this? Or AT LEAST let us use Japanese /w subs.

        Kojima does it..

Its probably because I'm getting old, but this just doesn't excite me like Final Fantasy used to. Looks like they're sticking to the same combat model used in the new Type-0 HD. Just feels like it's all too much twitch reaction time based. Again, I'm getting old so that's my problem.

So basically, instead of going from point a to b by foot the entire game we now do the same in a car?
