Alien: Isolation is for people who can withstand a heightened emotional state for a prolonged period of time. While it may keep your heart rate up, it offers enough of a challenge to keep you coming back for more.  With that in mind, we sent out Bill Lavoy to explore the ins-and-outs of the Nostromo in our written and video walkthrough.

So I'm using a Dualshock 3 to play this on Hard with aim-assist off. Will I be in trouble later in the game?

        Naw. It's not a shooter.

Not really. The biggest part of aiming is trying to toss molotovs at the Alien. Other than that there is very little shooting.

This. I finished the game with max revolver ammo, shot maybe six rounds the whole game, and almost maxed shotgun ammo, shot two rounds.

You don't really do much more than toss stuff and occasionally flame some things

Cool, I figured the shooting elements are a pretty small part of the game. The input lag with KB/M was kinda off-putting as well so the controller helps hide that.

Your mission #5 bugged out? Or you playing on easy?

The Alien never came after you? When I played on hard the damn thing was constantly nearby once I got the door code off the PC. Even had a dramatic cinematic moment when it appears from a ceiling vent.

I wonder if you didn't walk far enough to trigger the cinematic reveal, thus it never showed up for you.

No he was there. We spent a LOT of time hiding like a little baby, so instead of boring you guys with all the inside locker editions we cut the video down and gave off the MAIN points.

So will this game work on these VR headsets that are imminently releasing? Will there be any games ready for this hardware when it appears next year?

Back when Alien Isolation originally released there was talk of VR support, but the devs have since then shut down all notion of the idea. You can "mod" it to work in VR, but it isn't stable, and isn't really a great indicator of what VR can accomplish.
