Final Fantasy 14's relaunch runs into server issues

Final Fantasy 14 first launched in 2010, but was a huge disappointment amongst critics and fans. Dubbed a "big mistake," Square Enix decided to shut down the game and relaunch it anew. After years of re-development, the game soft-launched over the weekend for players with early access. But once again, the game has launched with server snags, with Square Enix having to implement "severe login restrictions."

Square Enix admitted to Kotaku that players "may continue to have a difficult time logging into the game." However, they do say that "the issue is being addressed, and new updates will follow as additional information becomes available."

"We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience that this is causing everyone for an extended period, but we would like to ask for your continued cooperation to make this a stable environment," the company added. The official launch of A Realm Reborn is tomorrow, and Square Enix will undoubtedly want to avoid the same issues that plagued the original FF14.
