Next Assassin's Creed to feature new hero in new time, coming fiscal 2014

Say goodbye to Connor. Say farewell to America. The next Assassin's Creed won't follow the model established by AC2. Instead of having a spin-off game continuing Connor's story, Ubisoft's next Assassin's Creed game will actually take place in an all new time period with a brand new hero.

During Ubisoft's quarterly earnings call, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot said: "We are delighted and proud to announce today that in financial year 14, we will introduce an all-new Assassin's Creed hero." According to Polygon, the game will be created by "an all new team" and will represent "another major leap forward for the franchise."

Explaining how yet another major addition to the franchise could come so soon after the release of Assassin's Creed 3, Guillemot said: "It is the benefit of multiple teams working on multiple chapters of the product, each getting several years to make their versions of an Assassin's Creed game."

It's no surprise that Ubisoft would fast-track a new Assassin's Creed game, given that last year's game has already sold over 12 million copies. Ubisoft's fiscal 2014 takes place between April 2013-March 2014, meaning the next Assassin's Creed title could be out in time for the holiday season--and likely, next-gen consoles.

Can't say I'll miss Connor, he paled in comparison to Ezio. Please be renaissance France or victorian Britain.

They need to re-tool the gameplay controls. It feels disjointed.

I've played them all. And I am tired of the series.

How can they churn these out once a year, but we are still waiting for a new RDR?

Because those are two completely different developers and publishers?

Good call. IMO go backwards in time, closer to Altair. Get folks reacquainted with the roots. Have flashbacks and shit. Recapture the mystique of the Templars, less of the FUCKING ALIENS

The AC3 ending was pretty wacky. Also less crafting, or make shortcuts to it. Like if you want to crank out some swords to make megabucks, that takes literally 90000000000 moves. And then you have to use the fucking convoys to get the money anyway. And then they still might get hijacked. There should be a way to get that number down to zero next time, give the players some hurdles!!

Assassins Creed needs more... ASSASSIN style missions. Less GTA open world ezmode shit. That was a fun "tour" of wandering around, but let's get back on track here. The frontier was fucking HUGEEEEEEE. and like 98234293 fast travel points? yeeesh.

I don't know how it would work, but I'd love for it to be futurish, post-Desmond, and that the new guy would go into the Animus and relive Desmond in present day.

Same here, I really wish they would dump him and have a new character in the animus. Might be interesting to have a female lead even.

I hope they improve the in game tutorials. After 4 hours of "training" I still didn't understand the mechanics. I hope AC4 has at least 5 hours of tutorials. 6 would be better, but I'm willing to compromise on 5.

I kind of felt like they should have done America during the 1930s or 1880s instead of the revolution.

I have been hoping for one set in China with awesome wushu combat and stuff, that setting is fucking perfect for AssCreed. But they probably think it's not relatable enough or some shit like that.

Does anyone else think they should just drop the assassin's creed story Desmond story and just make a assassin's creed type game set in a time period with none of that virtual reality stuff?
