Pokemon X and Y announced for Nintendo 3DS
by Alice O'Connor, Jan 08, 2013 1:15pm PSTNintendo's catch-'em-all series Pokémon is finally making the jump from the DS generation of hardware to the not-quite-so-shiny-and-new-anymore Nintendo 3DS, president Satoru Iwata announced during today's Nintendo Direct presentation. Pokémon X and Pokémon Y boast a new story, new Pokémon to poach, and new camera perspectives.
Pokémon X and Y will also see the series embrace simultaneous worldwide launches, after 17 years (17!) of staggered releases. They'll arrive on 3DS in October.
"We brought Pokémon into an entirely new dimension and we're incredibly excited to bring Pokémon X and Pokémon Y to fans," Junichi Masuda, director at developer Game Freak, said in the announcement. "The stunning visuals, a completely redesigned environment, game scenario, music, and communication features will bring smiles to the faces of video game players around the world."
What all these shiny new things are, however, is a mystery for now. Look, a trailer:
Splinter Cell Blacklist co-op modes partially detailed
FIFA 14 on PC won't use Ignite engine
Ace Attorney Trilogy coming to iOS next week
Far Cry 3 editor jazzed up with Blood Dragon shinies
Epic Mickey 2 for Vita coming June 18
