Platinum Games is known for its console action titles like Bayonetta, but the developer says it's "very interested" in expanding its efforts to PC. While the developer isn't currently developing on PC, executive director Atsushi Inaba suggested a Kickstarter to release titles on Steam.

"Console game development budgets are really big," Inaba told Polygon, "so we need publishing partners to create those games. I was thinking - with our own money - about creating a PC title for Steam. It would give us the possibility to become a publisher, which is very attractive to me. I view the PC as an area with huge potential. It would be great if we could do a Kickstarter and gather enough money for a game to be released on Steam."

He lamented that "many publishers don't view PC as an important platform," but admires Valve for being a "very open-minded company." He also remarked on the possibility of 3DS development, calling it a "proper, straightforward evolution from a platform that has had huge success."

Platinum Games is currently working on Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance for Xbox 360 and PS3, The Wonderful 101 and Bayonetta 2 for Wii U.

That was published under Capcom. That and Okami were the last games from Clover Studio.

To be clear, Sega owns the IP to Bayonetta, Vanquish, and Madworld. I imagine that this is Inaba expressing interest in Kickstarting a new IP on Platinum's engine (which is multi-platform; it's been on the Wii in Madworld, did very well on 360 and PS3 in Vanquish, and is being used on the Wii U for Wonderful 101).

That said, I would definitely get Bayonetta on PC.

My god if only they'd release Bayonetta and Vanquish on PC!!! Absolutely loved them on the 360 and those game would clearly benefit from a higher resolution!

Right now, Sega only "likes" Sonic, Yakuza, Total War, and Aliens. The only reason why Bayonetta 2 got greenlit is because Nintendo is funding it.

I don't see Sega funding a PC version of a prior Platinum release, nor do I see them allowing a Sega IP to get a PC version if funded by a Kickstarter. It would be awesome, but Sega's financially hurting, and they're falling back on the four "sure-fire" IPs that are Sega-owned and Sega-studio-developed.

They should just release Vanquish and Vanquish 2: Russki's Revenge on Steam.

Awesome, even though I've already played it on PS3, I would buy Vanquish for PC in a heartbeat. I'd love to see it with high res graphics. Such a great game.

It's great to hear so many of you like this game. It got so-so reviews, but I know Platinum games, and it was $10, so I picked it up recently. Maybe I should start it soon.
