Happy Wars goes free-to-play on Xbox 360
by Andrew Yoon, Aug 24, 2012 12:00pm PDTXbox 360 is finally jumping into the world of free-to-play. The "large-scale multiplayer" action game, Happy Wars, will be launching as a free download to all Xbox Live Gold members, Microsoft has announced.
Of course, being a free-to-play game, there will be tons of microtransactions available within the game. In fact, thousands of "lavish" items will be made available in the Item Shop "to flaunt your originality." In addition, the game promises to be updated regularly with more items and character customization parts.
While online a big focus for the game, there's also a single-player campaign mode as well. That should be a good option for cheap gamers that want to earn some Gamerscore without paying for microtransactions. Online will feature both competitive and cooperative play, with the latter sounding like a traditional horde mode.
Happy Wars will be playable at PAX Prime and will be available through Xbox Live Arcade later this year.
