Final Fantasy VII PC (briefly) released early
by Steve Watts, Aug 06, 2012 9:00am PDTFinal Fantasy fans got a short-lived surprise over the weekend, as Final Fantasy VII was briefly released on the Square Enix Web site. However, the downloaded copies wouldn't work, so even those who grabbed it early are in the same boat with other players who are still waiting.
Joystiq reports that the automatic license activation and manual serial number entry both failed for early purchasers. Presumably, either method will work once the game goes live. The price through the site was reportedly $12.70, so we'll probably see it hit somewhere around that point. It has since been pulled.
Once the revamp does officially launch, it will sport achievements, cloud saves, and a "Character Booster" feature to temporarily max out your HP, MP, and Gil if you're stuck.
