PS3 firmware 4.20 coming tomorrow
by Andrew Yoon, Jun 25, 2012 12:30pm PDTIt's been a while since we've seen one of these, hasn't it? Tomorrow, the PS3 is getting yet another mandatory firmware update. Version 4.20 is a minor update, with owners of the Wireless Stereo Headset getting the most benefit. The system update improves "sidetone" performance when using the official PS3 headset, and also adds the ability to get virtual surround sound when watching Blu-ray and DVD movies.
4.20 will also revise default power save settings on the PS3. The system will automatically turn off after an hour of inactivity. This change is being made to be compliant with European regulations. However, you should still be able to alter it to your liking from the Settings area of the XMB.
Finally, saved data management has been tweaked. You will be able to select multiple saved data items and delete or copy them as a group.
