Call of Duty Elite has 2 million paying subscribers
by Andrew Yoon, May 09, 2012 2:15pm PDTActivision's Call of Duty Elite subscription service now has two million paying members, growing by 33% since the end of January. With a $50 price tag, Activision has managed to squeeze out $100 million in additional revenue from Call of Duty players.
More than 10 million gamers have registered for Call of Duty Elite, meaning only 20 percent of players have opted to convert to the premium version of the service, in spite of an aggressive "season of content" provided to paying members.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 is launching later this year, and will introduce Elite 2.0. Will Activision be able to continue growing the service for its second year?
